Polly Crathorne had the privilege to be the first person to kitesurf in the stunning country of Tajikistan. One of the most remote and land-locked regions on the planet and under ice for eight months of the year, the kitesurfing at Lake Karakul had some wild conditions.

Polly and some other riders sailed at Karakul, a 380 square kilometers lake at 12992 ft. This was the highest sailing regatta in the world.

Watch here a few clips from Polly’s unbelievable experience!

The rawness of nature up there as well as the fact that I was the first person to ever kitesurf on the lake, made for an unbelievable session. The village where we were staying is nestled by the shore, and several locals came to take a look. It was such a thrill to introduce these wonderful people to the sport of kitesurfing – a completely alien concept to them.” said Polly.
