Only a two day brake from the Puerto Rico Formula Worlds and it was back to action at the Double Tree by Hilton US Windsurfing Nationals .
The event was incredible, on the water, Darren Rodgers made sure everything ran smoothly as we ran Formula, slalom, long distance and Freestyle during the 5 day event. Back ashore, the Berkely Yacht club with all the volunteers made everything perfect lead by Jane Morson who had been working on this event for the past year and really deserves a special thank you.
We had great conditions every day, winds ranged from 20 to 25 knots for the formula and for the slalom gusting above 30 knots at times.
I was stoked to take the overall title, last years winner Phil McGain and I had a great battle in the water for first place, Xavier Ferlet was very consistent on both formula and slalom to finish third.
I was a bit worried on the third day of slalom, as the winds were gusting above 30 knots some times and I only had 107 board and a NeilPryde EVOIII 7.0 and 7.8 which I thought would be too big, but in the end, the gear performed incredibly.
