TeamPryde/JP team rider Christian Justesen won the Formula Youth Worlds that took place in Austria last week. He was closely followed by two other TeamPryde/JP riders Matteus Isaac from Brazil and Elia Colombo from Switzerland.

Christian Justesen (DEN 26), the new Formula Youth World Champinion from Skive Windsurfing Club in Denmark sent this report to us:

„Wow!! That was just my dream come through – I have been dreaming about this for the last 3 years, since I won the World Championship Junior Slalom in Hyere in 2010. It is an amazing feeling standing in the centre of the podium, knowing that you are the best in the whole World – I wish everybody could try this once!

This year everything has worked out perfect for me, I got the new RS:Racing EVOV 10,7 as one of the first sailors together with the new FX100 mast. The sail has been developed by my training partner Sebastian Kornum, and this enabled me to get a head start trimming and fine tuning. The combination has been working very well for me and for the worlds in Austria, I knew exactly how to trim for the conditions on the Lake Neusiedler both in light wind (6-10 knots) and full powered on the edge (15-21 knots).

I have had the JP Power now for 2 years, and know all the strong sides of this unique board. Together with the right fin it was just a true rocket on flat water.

The first day we had marginal winds, and didn’t complete any races, but I got a really good chance to do some smaller adjustments on the batten tension on the sail, to generate even more power, adjusting the base by a few millimeters. After that everything was ready to race, and we were really just waiting for the wind.

Next day we completed 2 races in very light conditions – my setup was tuned and I made a 2 and one bullet. That meant I was in front of the completion together with Rytis Jasiunas (LTU 799), Rytis is extremely fast in light conditions, so I knew he would be a very tough competitor if the next days did not give us more wind.

Day 3 came up with perfect racing conditions, 10 to 20 knots and we managed to do 4 races. As the wind was off shore and very gusty, I decided to go with my medium trim on the 10,7. First race was fully powered, and I was under immense physical pressure, and was glad I had put so much work in the gym this season. I felt that I was able to hold and lock the equipment fully – I have newer sailed that fast on FW equipment, it was almost as sailing slalom! Out of nothing came Elia Colombo (SUI 63) also on NP/JP and took the bullet and I came second in this race. Later I found out that he was on the RS:Racing EVOV 10,0. It is a very strong and fast combination with the JP Power. The next 2 races I took 2 bullets, and in one on of the races managed to build a solid lead of 2 minutes tacking and jibing on the many winds shifts. Last race was won by last years World Champion Mateus Isaac BRA 767, also on NP/JP and I finished in 3rd spot. Mateus was sailing really well and managed to put in some god races taking him up to the 2 place in the overall ranking.

The result after 6 races and still 2 days to go, was DEN 26 – 7 point, BRA 767 – 13 point, SUI 63 – 18 point, LTU 799 – 20 point, BRA 114 – 25 point.

As the wind died down to have a break and leave the sun to shine over Lake Neusidel and all the competitors, there was no more sailing the next 2 days.

A more perfect result for NP/JP than ever before – all podium places for the NP Racing EVO V and the JP POWER – all three will enter the senior division next year – watch out old guys!“

Congratulations to Christian, Matteus and Elia on an incredible result!
