The Virgin Kitesurfing Armada broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Parade of Kitesurfers at Hayling Island this weekend. They needed 416 kitesurfers to take part in the course in the water around Hayling Island to beat the record held by the Cape Town Virgin Kitesurfing Armada, which was not an easy target to meet. But kitesurfers from all around the world gathered and at 1pm on June 20th, the wind arrived and the attempt was on. The kitesurfers headed into the water where they needed to complete a continuous parade over a one mile course. Five hours later, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Records announced that they had beaten the record with 423 kitesurfers – outdoing Cape Town by just eight people. “Huge congratulations to everyone for 3.5 hours of determined kitesurfing,” Sophia Greenacre, the official adjudicator from Guinness World Record, said. “With 423 kitesurfers completing the course Virgin Kitesurfing Armada you are officially amazing and are all Guinness World Record holders.” Dan Charlish, event organiser, added: “”A huge thank you to everyone who has come down and supported the festival this weekend.
