Another victory!

Pierre Mortefon won the 2nd event of the French Slalom Nationals in Marignane.

As he reports: „I’m sending already a news to announce and celebrate with you my first victory of the 2d step of the French Championship that took place in Marignane this Easter week-end .

After 3 racing days I win this competition and I’m super happy because I was regular and consistant during all the different races. We just sailed one day but in really good windy and troubled conditions.

First day was windy but the 2 following days showed a lack of wind. We sailed the first race with a wind around 30 knots (60km/h) and choppy water. After good qualifying heats I began relatively quiet the finale . I took a good start and I jibed the first mark in second position. I pay attention to my competitors and I benefit of a little mistake of the first one to pass him in the inside during the last jibe and took the 1st place and win the heat. We quickly made a second race with the same equipment and with similar conditions. Wind was there and failed a little. We just had time to change our gear and we took bigger sizes to begin the finale, still in a good mood.  After a start that could have been better, I extracted me of the fleet and found a good place after the 1st mark where some sailors touched them. I fought for the 2d place and passed the opponent and kept my 2de place until the end of the race. A victory and a second place; that was really good to begin the competition! I was super happy of the result and of my sailing of the day. Unfortunately the 2 other day was marked by a lack of wind, lots of waiting and a little stress but at the end a beautiful victory.

I am very happy to win this first national step that confirms my choices and winter trainings. I’m fast on the water and in a good health in this beginning of the year ! Now the goal is the World Cup that will begin in 3 weeks in Korea ! I’m more motivated than ever ! In the meanwhile I will be in Leucate to the “Mondial du Vent” on the run speed to try to go as fast as possible !
Thank you to my sponsors and partners for their support and to all of you!“

Congrats Pierre!
