Ross Williams (Tabou / GA Sails) has enjoyed plenty of success throughout his career with the Brit winning the 2012 and ’14 Formula World Championships, whilst he is also a 3-time European Champion. Williams has also recorded numerous PWA podiums in the Slalom discipline and the 40-year-old remains one of the elite racers on the world tour. However, Williams’ talents are not limited to the racecourse as he is also an extremely gifted wave sailor and free surfer! We recently caught up with Ross to be the latest sailor in our ‘Would You Rather’ feature.

If you were reborn in a new life, would you rather be alive in the past or future?

Neither, I love  this moment in time. Even with its hardships and current struggles, i think we are very fortunate and should not wish to be living anywhere but right now.

Would you rather be free or be totally safe?

I would rather be free, so I know I am the one controlling my life.

Would you rather have free Wi-Fi wherever you go or have free coffee where/whenever you want?

I have a café so we make a living on selling coffee, so I would hope for free wifi so I can connect with friends and family at any time.

Would you rather lose the ability to read or lose the ability to speak?

I have never been a strong reader, so being able to speak is very important to me to be able to express my thoughts.

Would you rather spend the rest of your life with a sailboat as your home or an RV as your home?

Sail boat so I could sail to all the sick surfing reefs around the world.

Would you rather have unlimited international first-class tickets or never have to pay for food at restaurants?

I think I would like unlimited international first-class tickets,  I would travel all the time and enjoy the food service they provide. I don’t have any issues paying for food when I eat out at restaurants as long as its worth the money.

Would you rather be forced to dance every time you heard music or be forced to sing along to any song you heard?

It would be a pleasure to do both as long as I wasn’t the only person doing it.  Dancing and signing give you happiness so its good for everyone’s wellbeing and mental health.

Would you rather travel the world for a year on a shoestring budget or stay in only one country for a year but live in luxury?

I would rather stay in one country for a year and live in luxury, I’ve done enough travel on a shoestring budget.

Would you rather have a horrible job, but be able to retire comfortably in 10 years or have your dream job, but have to work until the day you die?

That’s easy, I would do my dream job till I die because my dream job is as professional free surfer or windsurfer.

Would you rather be able to land every move in the world right now and never crash again or still be able to still learn new moves, but crash 10 times more frequently than it usually takes you to land a new move?

I would say I would rather be able to land every move in the world right now, as I think my body would get destroyed learning something new again in 10 years time.

Thanks, Ross!
