Saturday was a day that promised much on paper with the forecast predicting solid wind and waves by the afternoon, but as time ticked by, hour-by-hour, those hopes started to fade with the realisation that the proposed conditions were not going to materialise.

For a time it was windy, but the waves never really threatened to emerge and that led to the U20 Boy’s contest being cancelled after just two heats, which saw Miguel Chapuis (JP / NeilPryde) and Valentino Pasquale (Fanatic / Duotone) advance in the tricky conditions.

Given how off the mark the forecast was for today that raises questions marks about it’s validity heading into the last day tomorrow, which still looks solid on paper with 20-30 knots of wind and waves ranging from 1.8m-2.6m throughout the day. After a long day of waiting the sailors were eventually released just after 7pm and they will meet again tomorrow morning at 8:30 (GMT+1) for the skippers’ meeting – with a first possible start at 9am.
