The famous snowkite competition, Red Bull Ragnarok, returns for its 10 year anniversary in 2020, on March 20-22. Red Bull Ragnarok returns in 2020 larger than ever. Snow kiters from more than 30 nations worldwide will once again gather on Hardangervidda in Norway in 2020 to battle against each other and the weather when the 10th edition of Red Bull Ragnarok takes place during March 20-22 2020. And for the first time in the competition’s 10 year history 400 kiters from all over the world will fight for the win in the world’s largest snow kite competition. Kiters from more than 30 nations worldwide had gathered at Hardangervidda again this year. Well within the time limit of five hours, Felix Kersten crossed the finish line in 3 hours and 10 minutes to claim his third Ragnarok-title. Last time Felix came out on top was in 2017, and now he is back where he belongs after a 2. place finish last year. It looked like Peter Martel, who won in 2016 and 2018, would claim his third title, but in the end it was Bruce Kessler of Switzerland who took the win. The 19 year old Swiss came in to this years race with a silver medal from 2017 (on skis!) in his bag, and walks away with his first Red Bull Ragnarok-title. Returning for its ninth edition, the legendary snow kite marathon will April 4-7th 2019 gather 350 snow kiters from all over the world for an epic battle against the weather and each other on the plains of Hardangervidda, Norway. Over the years, Red Bull Ragnarok has grown into a position as the world’s largest and most popular snow kite competition. The 2018 edition was one of the hardest in the history of the race, both when it came to securing a spot in the race and the actual battle to finish the 105-km long kite competition. It only took 40 seconds from the registration opened until all 300 available spots were sold out. In the 2018 race, only three out of more than 300 kiters from 30 nations completed all five rounds of the in total 105-km long Ragnarok course. After four hours of kiting in the ninth edition of Red Bull Ragnarok, Florian Gruber of Germany secured the victory with a margin of just two minutes down to last year’s winner and fellow German Felix Kersten. In the difficult wind conditions, only three out of the 350 kiters completed all 105 km within the time limit. More than 350 kiters from 30 nations all around the world had come to Hardangervidda, Norway to battle through 105 km of kiting on skis and snowboard within a time limit of five hours. Even though this year’s course was almost 30 kilometers shorter than last year’s, the changing and challenging wind made it a hard race on the sunny mountain plateau. After four hours and one minute, Florian Gruber crossed the finish line as the overall winner and winner of the men’s ski category, just two minutes ahead of last year’s winner Felix Kersten. RED BULL RAGNAROK 2018 – more than 300 snow kiters from 27 nations return to Hardangervidda, Norway. Red Bull Ragnarok returns this weekend for the eighth edition of the world’s longest and hardest snow kite race. And the 130-km long challenge on the mountain slopes in Norway’s greatest national park is more popular than ever, all 300 available spots were sold out in record time of 40 seconds – with 54 percent of the tickets sold to international kiters. This weekend will gather kiters from far away countries like Australia, Brazil, USA, Canada, South Africa, Russia, as well as a huge number of European kite enthusiasts. Return of the champions All of last year’s four winners are returning to defend their title as kings and queens of Ragnarok. Five-time world champion Steph Bridge from Great Britain will attempt to secure her fourth straight Ragnarok gold medal in the women’s ski category. The battle to secure a spot in the world’s largest kite endurance race on snow starts Tuesday December 5th at 18:00 (CET). Returning in 2018 for its eighth edition, the legendary snow kite marathon Red Bull Ragnarok will April 5-8th once again gather more than 300 snowkiters from all over the world for an epic battle against the weather and each other on the plains of Hardangervidda, Norway. The 2017 edition was the hardest to date, only eight out of 350 kiters from 29 nations managed to finish all five laps of the 130 km long race. Equipped with kites, skis and snowboards the participants had to cope with winds of up to 23 m/s (small storm) and top speeds nearly reaching 100 km/h (62 mph). As always, the chase to secure a spot is almost as challenging as the race itself – last year’s tickets sold out in less than two minutes.
