Here is IKA report from Day Two of the 2019 Pascucci Formula Kite World Championships. NOVEL MIXED KITEFOIL RELAY TESTER FOR OLYMPICS DEBUT PROVES A HIT A special test event to trial the new mixed relay race format that will be used when kiteboarding makes its historic debut at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games saw the US’s reigning Formula Kite world champion Daniela Moroz and partner Evan Heffernan top the standings. But the pair edged out France’s Alexia Fancelli and former world champion Maxime Nocher by just one point in a day of thrillingly close race action on northern Italy’s breath-taking Lago di Garda on the sidelines of the 2019 Pascucci Formula Kite World Championships. With all the world’s fastest kiteboarders gathered to contest the world championships—hosted by Campione Univela and supported by Regione Lombardia—most who could muster a mixed team joined the trial for which one day was set aside. The crop of former world champions teamed with their fellow countrymen added to the drama and intensity of the nail-biting format, with Russia’s Elena Kalinina and highly-ranked Denis Taradin taking the third place overall. Formula Kite made it to Paris 2024 Olympic Games

World Sailing AGM confirms Kiteboarding for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games Sunday 4 November 2018, the Annual General Meeting of World Sailing confirmed the final line-up of events for the Paris 2024 Olympic Sailing Competition. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is made up of delegates from member national authorities (MNA), with each MNA entitled to one vote. Although a decision was made in May 2018, World Sailing’s Regulations allow both the Events and Equipment to be amended at the 2018 Annual Conference by World Sailing’s Council before ratification at the AGM. The AGM was invited to debate and vote on a proposal from the World Sailing Council meeting of 1 November 2018 to include a new Mixed Keelboat Offshore event. Kiteboarding in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Kiteboarding is to become a full Olympic sailing event after World Sailing’s (WS) Council approved a submission that will see athletes take the stage at the Paris 2024 Games. The Events Committee of World Sailing, the world governing body for the sport of sailing including windsurfing and kiteboarding, approved submission M22-18 from the Romanian Sailing Association which includes two events for windsurfing, a new mixed one person dinghy event (i.e.Finn + new lightweight women’s boat), a mixed double handed dinghy team event (i.e. 470), and a mixed kiteboarding team event in addition to the five already confirmed events (2x single handed dinghy, 2x skiff, mixed multihull). Details of the “team” nature of the format have yet to be established, but could comprise national teams of men and women each accruing points from races, or a novel “relay” where the male and female athletes race alternate laps of the course. The International Kiteboarding Association (IKA) will work closely with World Sailing’s Event Committee to ensure that the format reflects the wishes and dreams of the competitive kiteboarders all around the world to showcase hydrofoil kiteracing at it’s best.
