Jeep Tarifa Pro 2018 Final Day – Jesse Richman and Mikaili Sol win the Air Games
The first Air Games winners take the stage in Tarifa on the final day of the Jeep Tarifa Pro. The first order of Sunday business, the last day of the Jeep Tarifa Pro, was to complete the women’s KSWT strapless freestyle contest. Local specialist Carla Herrera Oria had stamped her authority on the discipline with the win over a stoked Johanna Catarina from Sweden and Charlotte Carpentier from France. This pure strapless freestyle discipline (rather than wave riding, which this tour also incorporates) is yet to fully blossom for the women and this was the first time that enough women had registered for a pure strapless freestyle event for them to have their own ladder, which was great to see! Carla managed to land a board-off, a one footer, an air reverse, a back roll foot switch combination and some good big airs as well. Jeep Tarifa Pro 2018 – Day 3 – GKA Kite-Surf World Tour Action
Watch the action video from Day 3 at Valdevaqueros! THE KSWT STRAPLESS CREW’S LATE-LATE SHOW AT THEIR SPIRITUAL CONTEST HOME! Once again we were waiting till the late afternoon but the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour riders were finally called upon to create the show with their strapless skills in around 15-18 knots. At the site of the first world strapless competition five years ago, the big upset for the crowds was Simon Joosten from Barbados ousting Keahi de Aboitiz from the single elimination in his first heat! Among the other highlights, Matchu Lopes pieced together a complicated new trick, called a front roll to rodeo with a board varial revert… we think! Anyway, the crowd loved it and we hope to see it again (look out for the video)! Then, in quickly dropping winds, Airton Cozzolino stepped up in the final heat of round two to prove that he barely needs wind to stomp tricks, like his signature flat 3 and more. The other positive: with just 16 riders left in the single elimination, a valid result stands for those riders and they can take points away. The Air Games riders step-up on Day 2 at the Jeep Tarifa Pro 2018. On day 2 the focus switches to the Kiteboarding ‘Air Games’ World Tour in this unique double bill event at the Jeep Tarifa Pro. The Jeep Tarifa Pro stages round two of the Kiteboarding ‘Air Games’ World Tour but will be the first time that we get to see action on this tour after round one in Leucate, France suffered a lack of wind for the entire event. A first in Leucate’s 20 year history of staging events! The forecast for Jeep Tarifa Pro is calling for light Poniente winds all week, but Valdevaqueros benefits from a daily thermal increase in the wind speed. So typically of this bustling and lively kiteboarding hub that draws visitors in equal measure for its night time appeal as its on-water action, we’re unlikely to see event starts before lunch this week. REGISTERED RIDERS AND FORMAT 38 MEN / 11 WOMEN have registered today at the Jeep Tarifa Pro for the GKA Kiteboarding ‘Air Games’ World Tour.
