Saturday 24th November Report: Jim Gaunt Photos: Ydwer van der Heide Videos: Mintautas Grigas Unofficial big air extravaganza closes out the Ceara Kite Pro Four action packed days in Prea, Brazil for round six of the GKA Kite-Surf World Tour came to a close on Saturday with a big air competition. This unofficial result doesn’t count towards the overall World Championship ranking, but with pride on the line as well as performance momentum propelling the winner positively onwards towards the final round in Australia next month, the beach crowd was treated to one more afternoon of aerial acrobatics. Man and machine, Airton Cozzolino Two tricks counted for each rider in the heats, with judges awarding 70% of the score for height and 30% for technicality. Kiko stoked to make his first ever final!! 17 year-old Spaniard Kiko Roig has impressed all week and reached the final against Airton Cozzolino but couldn’t topple the reigning World Champion who was riding high after his main event win yesterday. First up yesterday was the women’s single elimination. Eight women competed over three rounds for the fourth time this season before 2x World Champion Jalou Langeree found herself back on top of the podium, this time at The Ceara Kite Pro in Prea. Sabine Beukeleers, sockin’ it to the girls 51 year-old Belgian Sabine Beukeleers has 15 years kiteboarding experience and many trips to Brazil under her belt, but is new to competition. The main event continues Thursday 22nd with skippers’ meeting at 9:30 AM (GMT-3) and a first possible start at 10:00 (GMT-3). We closed the first day of competition (Wednesday) at The Ceara Kite Pro in Prea with the line-up for the single elimination final and mini-final line up confirmed for today (Thursday). Camille Delannoy with family and friends yesterday. Yes, he’s pretty pleased with how it’s going, making the single elimination final which will take place later today! French 19 year-old Camille Delannoy has lived here in Prea with his family for seven years and thrived on the local support he had on the beach. A regular tour competitor and top five finisher in several events during the last two seasons, he linked up his growing competition experience with an obvious comfort and intimate knowledge of the conditions.
