When Alexia Kiefer Quintana (Fanatic / Duotone) made her debut on the PWA Wave World Tour in 2019 she made quite an impression as the then 14-year-old battled back through the Double Elimination to claim an eye catching joint 5th place at the Gran Canaria Wind & Waves Festival.

Since then, sadly there hasn’t been anymore contests, but the young German has clearly been pushing her level over the last couple of years as her latest video from Pozo this May shows.

The GKA is proud to host the Youth Freestyle and Kite-Surf World Tour. We’re stoked to have confirmation for our first scheduled event in El Gouna, Egypt and registration is now open.

The purpose of the Youth Kite World Tour is to provide young competitors an arena to prove their skills through a series of international events. This enables them to get used to the competition formats and prepare them for the GKA Kite World Tour down the road.

The age groups that can participate are as follows:

U19 (born 1.1.2003 or younger)
U17 (born 1.1.2005 or younger)
U15 (born 1.1.2007 or younger)

The first planned event is the GKA Youth Freestyle World Cup Egypt, in El-Gouna happening from July 6th-10th. With warm, flat, shallow water this spot has previously played host to both Freestyle and Big-Air championships.

The start of the 2021 PWA World Tour isn't far away now with Israel set to host the first PWA Slalom World Cup since November 2019 between the 21st-25th June. Preseason may therefore be drawing to a close, but Maciek Rutkowski is about to take you on a short day in the life of a typical preseason training regime he uses to make sure he's in prime shape once the green flag is raised.

Maciek Rutkowski (FMX Racing / Challenger Sails): “What kind of training do pro windsurfers do? What does a typical day look like?

Here is one day of a little 14-day bootcamp I did at the start of season preparations!

If you enjoyed the content and would like to stick around for more - DON’T FORGET TO HIT SUBSCRIBE! Sick content coming up.”

Wave Sailing Setup

Original Post:

Nobody wants to get injured whilst windsurfing, but there are plenty of people who have suffered serious foot/ankle and knee injuries, because it’s part of the territory which comes with an extreme sport. However, there are some basic setup tips which can help you prevent those unwanted injuries. Over to Ben Proffitt (Simmer / Simmer Style) to explain more.

Windsurfing.TV: "Are your foot straps the right size?

Before I do any tips and tricks videos I just want to show you a little trick I do to test the size of my straps for wave sailing.

Now, I’m NOT saying you should all set your straps up like this… but if you check most of the top guys in the world you will see they have pretty big straps. It’s worth looking into and checking your own setup.

Disclaimer: Injuries can happen no matter how big your straps are… but you want to make it as easy as possible to get your feet in and out.”
